Wyoming

Wyoming is committed to the coordination, acquisition/production, and delivery of accessible instructional materials to eligible K-12 students with print disabilities. Drawing upon the resources of the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE), the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC), the Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) Consortium, the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities WIND), and the WIND Assistive Technology Resources (WATR) program, the Wyoming NIMAS Clearinghouse for Accessible Media and Materials is the point of contact for requesting and acquiring alternative format materials for students who may benefit from receiving their core instructional materials in a non-standard format (etext, audio, braille, large print, or digital talking books).

As a member of the AIM Consortium, Wyoming's goals focus on the development of a data tracking and management system for storing files and serving students, and on the development of professional development materials to improve the capacity of local education agencies, community colleges, and university-based disability support services to meet the needs of their clientele.

Textbook Acquisition

The selection and purchasing of core curriculum and instructional materials is a local district activity. Wyoming is an "open territory" state with no centralized system of procurement.
