Vermont

Vermont's goals, among others, include developing strategies to increase statewide communication and provide professional development designed to improve the capacity of LEAs to: understand the provisions of Section 300.172 of Part B of IDEA 2004; identify students with print disabilities; determine which specialized formats and technology tools are appropriate for students with print disabilities; and acquire specialized formats and supporting tools to students with print disabilities.

In addition we are working on the creation of an integrated system that coordinates NIMAC-related requests with activities that benefit children with disabilities who do not meet the NIMAC eligibility requirements building upon existing state programs and systems; the development of data management and tracking systems for managing NIMAS files and ensuring delivery of educational materials in accessible formats, and the reconciliation conflicting State and Federal statutory, regulatory and policy provisions related to procurement of accessible educational materials and file formats.
