Delaware will improve the academic participation and achievement of students with print disabilities by ensuring that they have full access to curricular content. We will achieve this by building an AIM infrastructure, and preparing students, families, and educators for their roles and responsibilities. The infrastructure will include: capacity for student tracking; compliance mechanisms; processes and procedures for evaluation, documentation, and accommodation of student needs; access to tools, strategies, and providers of accessible content; and a content repository. Key to personnel preparation will be our Print Access Cadre, LEA representatives who serve as point people for training, implementation, and sustainability activities.

Publishers, in addition to granting copyright permission for transcription into Braille, large print or tape for visually impaired students as already established by law, must furnish to the Division for the Visually Impaired a print copy and, when requested, electronic files in ASCII format. (14 Delaware Code, Section 206).

Definition of Timely Manner

Each public agency shall take reasonable steps to provide instructional materials in accessible formats to children with disabilities who need those instructional materials at the same time as other children receive instructional materials. (14 Del Admin Code, Section 922.72.1.3).
